Know Your Day Type

The indicator classifies the current trading day in real time based on how price interacts with yesterday's range. Color-coded boxes and labels update live as the day develops.

Outside Day

Price exceeds both yesterday's high and low — maximum range expansion. High volatility, often directional.

H > PDH AND L < PDL

Inside Day

Price stays within yesterday's range — compression and coiling. Often precedes a breakout move.

H ≤ PDH AND L ≥ PDL

Bullish Breakout

Price breaks above yesterday's high and closes above it — buyers have taken control.

H > PDH, Close > PDH

Bearish Breakout

Price breaks below yesterday's low and closes below it — sellers have taken control.

L < PDL, Close < PDL

False Breakout

Price breaks beyond yesterday's range but closes back inside — a trap. Often leads to a move in the opposite direction.

Breaks H or L, closes inside

Read the Weekly Pattern

Individual day classifications are useful — but the real edge comes from reading the sequence of days across the week. The pattern of Inside Days, Breakouts, and Outside Days tells you where you are in the weekly cycle.

Example Week Pattern
Monday
Inside Day
Compression
Tuesday
Inside Day
Still coiling
Wednesday
Breakout
Expansion
Thursday
Outside Day
Volatility
Friday
False Breakout
Reversal

Two Inside Days followed by a Breakout — a classic compression-to-expansion weekly pattern

◁▷

Compression → Expansion

Consecutive Inside Days signal coiling energy. When the Breakout finally comes, you're already watching for it — not scrambling to react.

Spot the Traps

A Breakout followed by a False Breakout the next day is a classic trap pattern. Seeing the classification history helps you avoid chasing stale moves.

Three fully customizable session boxes track the high/low range for each major trading session. See at a glance where each session traded and how they overlap.
